Educational Support For Children

EDUCATIONAL THERAPY

Educational therapy encompasses assessment, intervention, collaboration and advocacy.  With a focus on building independent and confident learners, our team of educational therapists is formally trained in a variety of research-based intervention programs and methodologies designed to develop strategies that optimize learning.  Instructional choices are based on your child’s strengths, interests and unique learning style.

Educational therapy (ET) is provided to students through one-on-one and small group sessions.  Based upon the specific needs of each child, services may be delivered at the clinic, your child’s school, or in the home.

Educational therapy plays an important role in supporting individuals with learning differences, learning disabilities, ADHD, processing or memory differences, and those requiring remediation or academic intervention.

The educational therapists use multi-sensory and evidence-based curricula. They utilize a variety of curricula, assessments, and intervention strategies to develop individual learning plans and meet the unique needs of each child.

EDUCATIONAL THERAPY FOR STUDENTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Educational therapy (ET) is provided to students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disabilities. Explicit and targeted interventions are delivered through one on one instruction and are designed to support the specific and individual needs of each child in areas such as academics, social-emotional learning, emotional-regulation, functional school skills, and life skills.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING COACHING

Executive functioning is the act of self-government in order to successfully accomplish an identified goal. Common challenges can include analyzing, planning, scheduling, managing and/or completing tasks within a timely manner. Our educational therapists utilize research-based curricula to teach strategies that empower students to take command of their own learning. A key component of the Executive Functioning Coaching program is the development of metacognition (self-awareness and self-monitoring), an essential lifelong skill.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING AND ADHD

Kids with ADHD often have difficulty with executive functioning skills in the areas of planning and organization, sustaining and shifting attention, prioritizing, time management, regulating effort, working memory and/or self-regulation. The educational team uses research based curricula to help your child create a toolbox of executive functioning skills to:

  • Plan and organize
  • Complete and turn in school work
  • Access and utilize working memory more efficiently
  • Monitor progress, determine when a change of approach is needed and implement that change
  • Take charge of their own learning

STUDY SKILLS

Our educational team provides study skills support, in which children learn and practice skills related to organizing materials, utilizing tools for planning and time management, and test taking strategies. Children in need of this support meet in a one on one or small group setting over a shorter period of time with check-ins as necessary.

EARLY EDUCATION AND ENRICHMENT

Early Education Enrichment programs provide educational therapy support for children in preschool and kindergarten. Individualized plans are designed to support the needs of each child in areas such as handwriting, kindergarten readiness, early reading skills and number sense.

TEST PREP SUPPORT (SAT ®, ACT ®, AND PRIVATE SCHOOL ENTRANCE EXAMS)

Our test prep program provides support for college and private school entrance exams with a focus on test taking strategies, practice, pacing, and performance analysis. Your child will become a more efficient and confident test taker with one on one and/or small group support.
